LET HIM EAT PIE
To celebrate the LA Rams trip to Super Bowl LIII–where they played the New England Patriots–LACC Artistic Director Fernando Malvar-Ruiz made a friendly bet with Anthony Trecek-King, an old friend and President and Artistic Director of Boston Children’s Chorus. The stakes: a pie in the face of the conductor whose city lost the game.A deal’s a deal. Watch the hilarious video of Fernando Malvar-Ruiz honoring his side of the bargain here.

MUSICAL TERM OF THE MONTH
Coloratura
In its earlier meaning coloratura signifies coloring, and, in music, ornamentation. The word now generally indicates a role that includes elaborate ornamentation. It often involves a high soprano in exploration of the musical stratosphere. For example, Lynette Tapia (pictured above) singing alongside LACC choristers in Keepers of the Night.
